Today was the tournament
he wanted to help the kids
He'd taught English in high school
now his mind was up for bids
His partners' ask "Where is the Love"
trying to make light of things
But they all knew he had the heart
to tie up all the strings
Emotions high they had to win
a three man scramble team
He knew the way to get it done
would the others see his dream
Still what was said it did not matter
it was only how they played
And coming close to a hole in one
the gentle gaint prayed
He maintained a sense of humor
and was patient throughout the game
He cared what others thought of him
though they barely knew his name
When all was said and done
seventy-seven didn't win
But in his heart the kids did
and that's what mattered to him
